Padma Bank's Annual Business Conference, themed "Road to Transition," convened on January 13, 2024 at a five star hotel in the capital. Dr. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Chairman of the Board of Directors, graced the event as the chief guest. Key attendees among the Board of Directors included Md. Murshedul Kabir (MD & CEO, Agrani Bank Plc), Md. Abul Hossain (MD, ICB), Shahnul Hasan Khan, Jahidur Rahman FCA, Syed Rafiqul Haq, and Dr. Farhana Monem (Independent Director). Tarek Reaz Khan, MD & CEO, presided over the conference, with Kazi Md. Talha delivering the welcome speech. Faisal Ahsan Chowdhury, DMD & CICCO and Dr. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin DMD & Chief Business Officer presented a key-note paper on business and recovery. Chief guest Dr. Nafeez Sarafat congratulated and thanked the bank's officers and employees, emphasizing the importance of planning and seriousness in achieving annual targets. He expressed optimism in Padma Bank's growth through Shariah-based banking and commended the positive performance of sub-branches. MD & CEO Tarek Reaz Khan highlighted the bank's transformative journey and encouraged employees to focus on the Islamic banking window's potential. He discussed business reviews, debt collection, and set the annual business targets for 2024. The event was also attended by Senior Management Team members, Branch Managers, Zonal Heads, and division heads, along with 250 officers and employees.

With an illustrious career spanning 33 years both in conventional and Islamic banking, Mr. Talha has accumulated a wealth of experience and expertise. His extensive background includes key roles in Islamic Banking, CRM, ICT, Financial Inclusion, Retail & Business Development, Corporate Marketing, and branch banking management. Notably, he has held leadership positions at renowned institutions such as Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, Al Arafah Islami Bank PLC and Standard Bank Ltd.

Mr. Talha holds an M.Sc and B.Sc in Statistics from the University of Chittagong, showcasing his academic prowess and commitment to continuous learning. As part of acquiring professional skills, he has received various advanced trainings in the country and abroad. Prior to joining Padma Bank, Mr. Talha served as the Additional Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Banking Window at NRBC Bank PLC, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and played a pivotal role in the organization's success.

This agreement was signed for the financing cooperation of farmers and entrepreneurs involved in agricultural work in the remote areas of Bangladesh. Mr. Jamal M Akbar, Co-Founder & COO of i-Farmer and Padma Bank's Managing Director & CEO, Mr. Tarek Reaz Khan; Deputy Managing Director & CBO, Dr. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin; EVP & Head of SME and Agriculture Banking Divison, Md. Riazul Islam, EVP & Head of Human Resources Division, Mr. Sharif Moinul Hossain and other senior officials of both parties were presented at the signing event.

Dr. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin, DMD & Chief Business Officer (CBO); Syed Towhid Hossain, Chief Operating Officer (COO); Md. Riazul Islam, Head of SME, Agri & WE Division; Abu Tamjid Md. Niaz Hossain Khan, Head of Strategic Planning Division were presented during the signing ceremony representing the Bank with other senior members of Nuzhat & Associates.

In order to provide loans to the CMSME sector, Padma Bank Limited and Bangladesh Bank have signed a credit guarantee facility agreement to avail loans under Tk 25,000 Crore pre-finance scheme to the country's CMSME sector. The agreement was executed on behalf of their respective institutions by Dr. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Business Officer of Padma Bank; and Manoj Kumar Howlader, Director Credit Guarantee Department, Bangladesh Bank. Also other senior officials from both institutes were also presented at the ceremony.
